Day 9 – Yang Ming Shan & Shilin night market (士林夜)

Getting to Yang Ming Shan – take mrt all the way to Jiantan station then change to bus Red 5 and alight at the last stop. To go up to Yang Ming Shan you need to take the internal bus.

You can use easycard to pay for the bus fare or buy the bus ticket which allows you to travel around. In the end we chose to buy the bus ticket for Bus 108 for NTS108. The bad point is that it doesn’t tell what the next stop is so if you want to drop at a certain point it would be best to tell the bus driver beforehand. Because of that we missed quite a few points and didn’t get to visit some area. The cherry blossom season is already over so there’s like nothing much to see. So we just alight at some point and just kept walking.

We were so smart that we forgot to pack food and drinks along. There’s no convenient store at Yang Ming Shan at all. So basically we spent the whole day at Yang Ming Shan. Fortunately for us, there were a few cherry blossoms at the bottom where the bus terminal is so we get to enjoy the view a bit. Took the bus Red 5 back to Jiantan station.

At night we went Shilin night market. It is located at Jiantan station as well. Just come out of the station, cross the road and walk straight all the way. It’s just a 2 min walk away from the station. The food stalls are mostly located at basement. We tried the fried oyster and fried small crab. To be honest, I prefer Singapore’s fried oyster omelette, maybe because I prefer the crispy version. Tried the fried chicken as well, I think it’s ok only leh, like overrated only. But it’s damn big lah.
Shilin night market is quite big so be sure to go there early like 4pm if you want to walk finish almost most of the night market.
